Viby Gymnasium is a sixth-form college located in Aarhus, the second largest city in Denmark.
Our college was established in 1965, and we offer two education programmes: the three-year STX programme and the two-year HF programme. You can read more about these programmes of study in the links on the left.
Viby Gymnasium has around 750 students and 85 teachers. Our students are between 16 and 20 years of age.
In the links to the right you will among others find links for 'Galleri' and 'Video', from which you might get an impression of the daily life at Viby Gymnasium. The texts are in Danish, but we hope that the photographs and images speak for themselves.
Viby Gymnasium is a value-based academic institution, which places a strong emphasis on:
Our aim is to offer our students an education which is innovative and creative in its practice and which includes the surrounding society, be it at home or abroad. In a world of constant change, we find it extremely important to give our students the tools and knowledge to understand and influence the world around them.
To meet this ambition, we have decided to focus on three specific areas:
Cooperation with companies and institutions
We have therefore taken a number of concrete initiatives with regard to each of these areas:
Talent Viby Gymnasium is the host school of the Danish Academy for especially gifted young people. Each year students from Viby Gymnasium take part in a number of academic competitions.
Cooperation with companies and institutions For many years, Viby Gymnasium has had an extensive cooperation with the University of Aarhus, the second oldest university in Denmark. This is, of course, a relationship which we want to continue to develop, and parallel to this, we have decided to strengthen our ties with a number of companies and institutions with the aim of developing more systematic partnerships.
Globalization At Viby Gymnasium the global aspect is included in the general education curriculum and throughout the year our school carries out a number of initiatives with an international perspective.
In relation to this, we have decided to focus on the development of four programs:
Exchange visits for the most talented of our students who study Chinese, Spanish, German or English as a Foreign Language. In connection with this, we have established partnerships with a school in Harbin, China, a school in Northern Germany, a school in Vigo, Spain, a school England, and a school in California, USA.
Partner Programmes with international private companies og institutions.
Study trips of one week in length for all of our second-year students which include short study programmes at schools or other institutions in the country in question.
